Cocos Tropical Foods
CocosTropicalFoods logo website

For over 160 years the Cocos Malay community harvested a majority of their own foods. Foods such as desiccated coconut, coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut nectar, coconut water, sea salt and noni juice were all made and consumed on Cocos Islands.

On Cocos Islands today these labour intensive farming practices rarely exist, yet there are a few who still harvest and make what is known today as artisan or slow food. It is food that is now highly sought after by organic and gourmet food lovers throughout the world.

Cocos Tropical Foods was recently established to reinvigorate those traditional farming practices by a group of volunteers who want to make a difference. Our aim is to encourage locals to grow and process these artisan food products as naturally as possible for a sustainable future.
